We enjoyed being able to see all the wildlife. We also enjoyed the firepit, propane grill and playground; they were great additions we were able to utilize. We would definitely recommend to others!
Great little cabins, close enough to be able to see the major sights but far enough to be private and off the high traffic areas. Had nice ambiance around the public areas and the bathroom house was super clean and nicely built. Even from the furthest cabin the bathroom was a easy walk, plus the out house was a nice convenient addition and was hidden in a way as to not appear there. Next time we come back to the black hills in the summer we would look to book a cabin here.
Marilyn's cabin was cozy and comfortable. She was welcoming and full of local information. Her staff was top notch and extremely helpful and I would recommend a stay to others.
We loved everything about our stay. We stayed in cabin #1 with two teenage boys, my husband and I. It was perfect. The boys had their own space and a spacious king size bed also. Cooked breakfast in the mornings we were there and went site seeing the rest of the day. Perfect location to multiple spots with a beautified drive in between. Loved sitting on the porch in the morning and evenings watching deer and turkeys. Perfect beginning and ending to each day we were there!
Our family had such a great time - things were very much as described, and Marilyn was wonderful. We have already talked in our family about wanting to return.
We had a great stay here. It is about 30 min to Mt Rushmore, 20 to Keystone and Custer State park, an hour to Evan's Plunge Pool, and about 2 hours to badlands. If you are from a populated area (city), know that the roads here will be smaller and more twisting than you are used to and watch out for deer in early mornings and evenings. Driving down Ghost Canyon Road in the early morning toward highway 79 was lovely. The cabin itself was very comfortable for us - and it was great to have our own bathroom in the bathhouse. This is definitely glamping...Marilyn has paid so much attention to all the great things about camping while mitigating all the not so fun aspects (shared bathrooms, sleeping on the ground or with sleeping bags etc). Thank you Marilyn for a great stay!
My family enjoyed staying in this little clamping cabin! It was as described. Bathrooms with showers were a short little walk up the hill and were well stocked and easy to find. I really enjoyed the back porch area. My husband and I sat outside in the evening after the kids went to sleep. It was very peaceful.
Super responsive host. I love that they went to the effort to think of little things, like handouts to show local points of interest. Very convenient at Mount Rushmore, and the 9 PM illumination ceremony. It was a family, friendly location.
The stay was great! Super clean! It is a beautiful location! I loved how Marilyn greets you and describes the property! Bathroom was spotless! It was a refreshing end to our camping trip. Marilyn is super responsive and helpful! I would stay there again! Kids also loved it!
The cabin was great, very clean and well stocked. There was plenty of wildlife to look at, Deer, turkeys and birds. Very nice meeting are under a roof for fires and grilling. The side road is very peacefull for a country walk. You'll feel very comfortable there. I would love to rerurn next time we're in the area.
very friendly hosts. and perfect to get to know others in the cabins but yet very private
good place, small but plenty of outdoor room. shared grill available and microwave in cabin. deck is private. bathrooms are a bit of a walk to get to
Clean, comfortable place to stay. Very nice host. Recommend highly!
Breathtaking view from cabin 1. Such peace and serenity at Marilyn's cabin. I highly recommend whoever needs a time off, spend your nights at her cabins. The set up she is the ideal set up for a retreat at the Black Hills. Thank you so much for your beautiful wonderful and filled with love cabins. Definitely will spend an entire month or heck a year here.
Everything was lovely! We did have a small mishap but it was handled quickly by Marilyn. Would stay here again!
Beautiful place and very peaceful! Marilyn is a great host and is very welcoming! We really enjoyed our stay and would stay at Buffalo Rock again if we make it out to the black hills!
Can’t say enough about our quick stay in Cabin #1 at Marilyn’s place! The cabin was clean, easy to get to and just exactly what we needed to be able to lay our heads down at night after a few full days in the Black Hills. Marylin is so helpful and has everything thought out for you to help plan an adventurous day. The “glamping” is some of the best we have stayed in with each unit having its own private shower, toilet and two person sink vanity at the bath house. All coordinated to match the number of your cabin. We would definitely come back again! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Very quiet and fun for all ages. Very friendly and willing to help with anything needed. Very accommodating. Highly recommend to disconnect from the busyness of life and slow down.
After spending the day in bustling tourist places, it was nice to wind down out at the cabin. It was quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. Marilyn and her crew were very friendly and helpful. You can tell they take pride in the place with how well they manage it. The beds were very comfortable and gave me a much better night sleep then most hotels. Would stay here again and definitely going to recommend to family and friends.
On short notice, Marilyn was able to book our stay at her beautiful Buffalo Rock Lodge property. She gave plenty of arrival instruction and guided us to our cabin in person. Her staff was more than accommodating and helpful whenever we had a question. The cabin itself was clean and cozy, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. I'll be sure to recommend this site to all my friends!
This cabin in the black hills is absolutely stunning! The host is very helpful! We can't wait to stay again!
Our stay was wonderful! The host's recommended route from the cabin to Custer was one of the highlights of our trip. The location was incredible and the cabin was so cozy and well maintained. We would definitely stay again.
Very cute and comfortable cabin with a nice screened in patio. Comfortable bedding. Private Bathroom with shower was a short walk up the hill and was very clean with ample towels etc. Beautiful area just outside of Custer State Park. Very happy that our miniature goldendoodle was welcome. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!
Marilyn was so kind and an excellent communicator. We hope to visit again soon.
FABULOUS. From the moment that we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Marilyn at the main lodge. She gave us a wonderful tour of the grounds and gave us so much local information that we threw out our previous plans and did everything she recommended the next day and had the most beautiful time. This cabin was SO clean and comfortable. The morning sunrise off the back balcony was FANTASTIC. We will definitely be coming back!
loved our stay here, and the hiking near by
We traveled with our 4 and 5 1/2 year old and loved the location. We appreciated the choice of solitary time on our little back porch or playing in the community playground and pavilion. The private bathrooms were cleaned daily, very spacious and stocked with towels. Our children loved playing with the hosts sweet granddaughter. Overall a great stay!!
Great vacation cabins, very clean and cozy, perfect location, Marilyn and the staff were awesome, would recommend!
We have stayed here twice and will be back again. It’s a perfect location for exploring the Black Hills and the cabin and bathroom had everything we needed. We enjoy using the pavilion for cooking, fires, and marshmallow roasting. We love sitting on the back porch in the morning and the evening too.
Marilyn was a great host. Everything was as described, super clean, many amenities provided, super family-oriented. We were already talking about booking a second stay in the future! We will definitely recommend her cabins to friends headed to the Hills.
had a great stay for two nights during Sturgis! lovely cabin with all the basic necessities (coffee maker!). very comfortable bed and everything was clean. loved having our own bathroom and shower in the shower house. Marilyn and her staff were very friendly but didn't hover and made our stay very comfortable.
Very nice Cabin and location. Very peaceful area. Would stay there again.
Marilyn was great and the cabin was perfect. The community pergola was amazing!!! Meet some great people in thr evenings. Would not hesitste to go back. P.s. huge thanks to lily (hostess in training) for showing us to the cabin. You will be a great hostess!!
The cabin was very nice and was very clean. There was plenty of wildlife around the cabin which was beautiful. There was a gazebo we got to use and hang out in while making meals. It was a very enjoyable trip.
The cabin we stayed in was very clean and the area where the area where the cabins were was very quiet and peaceful. Marilyn had everything available to us that we needed and made sure to tell us that if we needed anything to let her know. We daily saw deer wandering about and were able to enjoy all that nature had to offer right from the porch.
Thank you very much - we enjoyed our stay in your beautiful cabin very much and would love to come back.
Great place to stay. Peaceful and relaxing. Close to attractions and restaurants. Had a great time in the evenings talking with other guests around the campfire. Marilyn and her camp hosts were very helpful. Will definitely stay there again when we go back to South Dakota.
The boys and I had a great stay at the cabins
We had a wonderful stay at Marilyn's Airbnb. She greeted us warmly and gave us a thorough tour of the amenities. The place was impeccably clean and the surroundings were absolutely gorgeous, perfect for our family of four. Its location is ideal, being close to all the attractions in the Black Hills. The staff were incredibly helpful, going above and beyond to ensure we felt like we were truly on vacation. Highly recommended!
This place is fantastic for families! Kids can safely play close to the cabins, and Black Hills activities are close by. The hosts are super knowledgeable about the area and provide clear and easy ways to access everything. The beds were super comfortable, too. I highly recommend it!
Just a great all around experience. They thought of everything we could need and had it available to us.
Couldn't have asked for better hosts! Very kind and responsive, felt right at home. If we were out in the common area and they were around, they made sure to make an effort to see how things were going. If we needed anything they made sure we had it in a very timely fashion. All around very enjoyable week!
We loved this place. Will definitely come back.
Great, peaceful location! Marilyn & her grandchildren were very friendly and accommodating, full of local recommendations of things to do. Overall, it was the best campground we've stayed in. I just wasn't expecting as much camping - no running water in the cabin, so had to hike to the top of the hill to do dishes and use the bathroom. They did provide a lot of extras such as snacks, fans, firewood, etc. to make the stay more enjoyable and worth the price, though. Honestly, just their company was amazing. Great family!
This was the best vacation we have ever been on! The cabin was perfect and we almost preferred to stay at the cabin than doing the touristy things. Everyone was very nice and accommodating! 10/10 recommend! We will be making this a yearly trip!
We loved staying at one of the cabins. Marilyn and Gideon were very friendly hosts and we felt very welcome. The cabin was really clean and the outdoor area is kept tidy. The kids loved to play in the playhouse. The bathroom building was super clean and there is attention to detail. There are some maps and suggested day trips available. The suggested trips are great trips and we used these to extend the routes that we had in mind. The area is beautiful and there is quite some wildlife (especially in the nearby parks). Every evening we saw deer from our porch, amazing!
We loved it. I was surprised that I managed to book a cabin without a bathroom, but in the end the shower house was soooo nice. My kids cant wait to come back. So close to everything we were out riding side-by-side and could drive that almost everywhere it was wonderful! everything you could need was in the cabin. we loved it all.
Lovely setting and just like camping, you have to trek to the bathroom. We felt very welcomed and the little cabin was very comfortable.
Thank you so much for the stay! Marilyn, it was lovely to meet you upon check in. You were thorough with instructions, welcoming, and kind. Our children LOVED having friends to play with on the first night of our stay. The location was perfect for hiking/biking within Custer State Park, and was also peaceful and quiet and felt private: the porch of the cabin was a dream for my morning cup of tea! Thank you again! We will be back!
Great location! Very close to Custer SP, Mount Rushmore. Needles Highway, Iron Mountain and Keystone. Very quiet location, great views and wildlife all around. Cabin was clean and grounds well taken care of.
We loved our stay at the cabin! Marilyn was so friendly and made us feel welcome! She took her time to explain everything and showed us around the property. I loved the fenced in porch for the doggies! Great location! Would highly recommend staying here. We hope to stay again in the future!
Wonderful cabin on a beautiful property. It was very quiet and I saw deer near my cabin everyday. I liked that I could drive right up to the cabin, it made unloading and loading really quick. The cabin is beautiful and the porch off the back was very relaxing with a nice view. The bed was very comfortable. It was nearly 100 degrees, but the air conditioner kept things cool. I slept really well every night.
Buffalo Rock Cabins met our little families needs, wonderfully! It was clean, cute, and peaceful and we appreciated all the guidance on the amenities and the surrounding area. 10/10 recommend
We loved the cabin! So quiet and peaceful! Comfy bed with exquisite sheets! Loved the back porch We brought our cat and it was screened in so we didn’t have to worry about him running away. Saw a beautiful baby deer Host Marilyn let us in early too So kind and understanding. Top notch place!
amazing stay!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! This was our first trip with our pup and to South Dakota. Although there are other cabins nearby, it felt super private and was very quiet and peaceful. We were provided directions for all the nearby attractions, which we really enjoyed, and then had a peaceful home to come back to. There are so many stars in the night sky (no light pollution)! Absolutely gorgeous setting and super close to Mt. Rushmore. We were in cabin 1 and had a fully fenced porch to safely enjoy the scenery with our pup. We would definitely stay again.
We loved our stay! The cabin exceeded our expectations and was perfect for our family of four. We definitely enjoyed the back porch and the comforts of the cabin. The bathroom was also great. The dining pavilion was wonderful too. It had everything we needed and we will definitely be returning!
My boys enjoyed this cabin!! Thought it was great.
This is the perfect place for staying if you are not there for the rally.. it is in the mecca of riding but off the beaten path. Very clean, awesome amenities!! Problem at entrance after much rain and he fixed it right away when mentioned to him. Fun to meet other campers in the center of cabins!! Met some great youngins from Michigan!! FARKLE!!
This was the perfect weekend stay with and amazing location
Lovely location. Friendly family.
It was great!
beautiful peaceful cabin in a wonderful natural setting. it was tucked away but yet still convenient to get to town or the sights. Marilyn was a friendly helpful host. loved it!
Beautiful and comfortable location
We really enjoyed staying at Buffalo Rock! We were so empresses with the helpful and kind staff and the beautiful cabin and location! Will definitely be recommending to others! Amazing stay!
We had a wonderful stay & enjoyed the peaceful setting & cozy cabin!
It was relaxing and peaceful. Great for kids to be able to play outside as well
Cabin #1 was great and in my opinion the best one in terms of view and privacy although all are great options. The back porch was so peaceful. We saw deer each day we stayed. The cabin was well equipped w essentials including clean water and most importantly, coffee. Cabin was spacious with plenty room for a couple but also if you have a kid or two. The bathrooms were private and clean. Marilyn was very accommodating and offered a helping hand when needed. This place was our favorite cabin style bnb. Highly recommend.
Cute place and close to everything we wanted to see.
Such a great place tucked back in the Black Hills. A short drive to Keystone. Very Peaceful and Relaxing.
Great family set up. The location is close to Custer National Park, which was amazing! The cabin was super cute and the shower house was very clean. The firepit gazebo was very relaxing and set up with a grill and pizza oven. My girls loved the swings hanging from the surrounding trees. Everyone was very friendly.
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Dakota Sunrise cabin. The owners and hosts were very friendly and helpful. The cabin was really cute! It had everything we needed including a comfortable bed, mini fridge, microwave and the water cooler was a nice touch! In the shower house, you get your own private and modern bathroom. All the spaces were clean and well maintained. You can tell they have a lot of love for their property. The area was quiet, but still close to all the attractions. We particularly enjoyed the front porch where we could watch the deer and listen to the birds. It was also the only cabin with enclosures on all three sides, so we could hang out with our two dogs on porch without having to leash them. Be careful driving in as there are cats, dogs and chickens on the property. When you check-in, you will get to see the beautiful lodge!
