Lovely cabin in the woods Multiple deer all around every morning and night. The shower facilities were private and pristine. Close to many of the area attractions. Marilyn was very helpful and gave us excellent advice on making the most of our time.
Great location to all things in the Black Hills! Cozy cabin in the woods with deer and wild turkeys. Peaceful and quiet. Bath house was spotless with our own designated bath room. Marilyn provides maps for common areas in the hills. Microwave, fridge and a water cooler provided. Don’t expect a TV. If you’ve spent your day enjoying all that the Black Hills has to offer, you won’t have time for TV! We had a great time!
Such a beautiful property, the stars at night were amazing!
Absolutely LOVED our stay here. Marilyn was so nice and welcoming. You first meet her at the main cabin to check in and then you follow her just around the corner to the loop of cabins. She will show you what's inside and then take you up to the bath house, which is within the cabin loop, and show you inside your bathhouse room. Everything was so clean and neat. And was decorated for fall which I loved that touch. She really takes pride in her rentals. There was a great air conditioning unit. Nice small fridge, microwave, loved that there was a water filler. Didn't use the hot plate but so nice that's an option, with pots and pans. Every morning and night we saw deer out on the property. Location was perfect! I would definitely stay here again and hope I get to in the future.
Fantastic cabin in the Black Hills just outside of Keystone! Clean, cozy, peaceful, comfortable beds, fantastic atmosphere! Loved this place!
Thank you for a wonderful stay! So cozy and peaceful.
We stayed at Marilyn’s cabin when we visited Mt. Rushmore and the Badlands. The location is great - it’s close to Mt. Rushmore and Custer State Park. The cabin was comfortable and the surroundings were very peaceful and beautiful. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a “glamping” experience close to Mt. Rushmore and Custer Statepark.
Our stay was perfect! The cabin was exactly what we were looking for.
Great location, my 7 year old had the best time, lots of kids to play with and a nice playground for them to play. We saw a lot of bucks too. Would love to return some other time.
This place was a Gem. Not too often fo you get your own private bathroom in a cabin space such as this. Marilyn also provided a free grill, fireplace, play area, utensils, plates, bowls, etc. It was perfect and peaceful. It was also situated in a great location to get to Keystone, badlands, mount Rushmore, custer, needles highway, and iron mountain road. We will be back! We highly recommend!
We enjoyed our stay in the hospitality. Everything was exceptionally clean. It's very easy to check in and check out and we felt very welcome. This host goes above and beyond for their guests.
Rustic and peaceful setting. Cabin was comfortable, with high-end mattress (although quite high off the floor). Hostess was responsive and easy to communicate with. The bathroom/shower block is about 100+ feet from the cabin, with no running water facilities in the cabin, so planning for any extensive cooking is necessary. The bathroom was modern, clean and it was nice to have this as a privately assigned space.
This was the perfect place to stay for our trip to the Black Hills! The suggested scenic drives were a bonus!
The cabin was an idyllic stay near custer. Easy access to all the park has to offer and local restaurants. The cabin was clean and comfortable with all the amenities we could need and more. Marilyn was a fantastic host. We’ll definitely be coming again.
Fantastic, an oasis in the middle of too many corporate lodging cookie cutters
Absolutely loved this place. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. Very clean and relaxing. Centrally located to see many attractions in the Black Hills. Marilyn has a map and detailed instructions for 4 different day trips available to see the sights. Also included are recommendations for extra places to see and places to eat. We really appreciated all the recommendations because we saw places we didn't even know about and loved coming back to our cabin each night. We will definitely go back!
Marilyn’s place was wonderful! It was within close proximity to beautiful attractions and things to do. Marilyn had step by step itinerary suggestions for us to make our experience in South Dakota well work it! Highly suggest taking the Needles Highway/Sylvan Lake directions she had pulled together. We look forward to returning in the future!
We will be returning! Everything and more we loved about this place! Marilyn was a great host! Kept up on our linens, garbage, and water- just as promised. Scenery was amazing!
Marilyn’s place was perfect for our vacation! Super nice hosts and adorable cabins for glamming! Loved the location in the mountains and close to Mount Rushmore. The bed was super comfortable, slept well!
This place gets all of the little things right - and I mean ALL of them. The stay at Buffalo Rock was 10 stars all around - anything that could be done to make the stay more comfortable was there, from in unit filtered water, snacks, all cookware and utensils you could imagine, and more. I'm immensely glad we chose this as a base of operations for getting engaged with my now fiancé. Thanks to Marilyn and her team of folks keeping on top of it all - I'm sure it's a full adventure in itself.
L'accueil, le cadre, la cabane, tout était parfait ! L'emplacement permet facilement de visiter Custer park et Mont Rushmore. Je recommande +++
A perfect peaceful retreat in the mountains away from the crowds yet within easy driving distance to town and sites. A perfect base camp for exploring everything the Hills have to offer! The cabin was comfortable, private bathroom immaculate. The hosts and other guests were friendly and informative. We’ll be back!
Wonderful place to stay! Loved the remoteness but proximity to everything. We had an amazing vacation.
What a slice of heaven! Out of the fray of Keystone but close to everything. The attention to detail and care of the staff is evident here.
We loved this cabin in the Hills. It was quiet, peaceful and beautiful mountains. We will be back
The place was perfect. We had everything we needed. It was clean. Easily accessible. And then having the large communal outdoor eating place with a grill and a fireplace were perfect.
Such a beautiful place to stay! It was just what we were looking for and we had a great time. Very grateful to our amazing host for the cozy stay!
This cabin stay was amazing!! It is also pretty centrally located for the surrounding sights and activities. Will definitely come back if we are in the area!
We loved it here.
Marilyn was a wonderful host. Her cabin was clean and very cute. She really thought of everything and even gave us great food recommendations!
We loved escaping to nature for a few days! The property was beautiful and we saw several deer during our stay. While the outdoor walk to the bath house was a new experience, we were thankful for the private bathrooms in the bath house. We definitely plan to stay here again!
Our stay was amazing- the cabin was very cozy, everyone was kind, and there was a lot to do in the area. The staff was super helpful and I'd stay here again if I came back to SD.
Cozy and clean cabin in beautiful surroundings. Marilyn was very sweet and helpful. Will highly recommend!
Very welcoming hosts.
Amazing!
Me and My Fiance enjoyed our stay at the Cabin, Marilyn was really nice and helpful. it was nice and peaceful away from the city. Everything was as described. we will definitely stay again if we are in the area!
everything about this place was amazing. I would absolutely stay here again. the hostess was extremely helpful and informative. the place was clean, quiet, inviting and exactly what we needed. I would love to come back.
beautiful location with easy access to all the things nearby. very helpful instructions on how to get to nearby attractions.
wonderful wonderful place! it was a very peaceful area among the blackhills, we loved being able to see the deer wandering about the place at dusk time. Having your own private bathroom with shower is the next best thing to having it in the cabin. Will definitely be returning here when we come back to Keystone!!
The gazebo gathering place is great!
We had a great stay! Awesome location, super clean and well-kept. Host was very helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend!
Buffalo Rock (where this cabin is) was a fantastic place to stay. We got a personal tour from the owner when we checked in, so that we would know where everything was. The grounds were gorgeous and fantastically cared for. The cabin came exactly as described. The place was also teeming with animals: there were a couple of deer that seemed to be totally chill with hanging around people, a bunch of friendly chickens, and a rather gregarious cat. I would highly recommend staying here. The host was easy to talk to, had great recommendations, and made booking here easy. When I come back through the Black Hills and need a place to stay, this will be the place I am going to look.
We enjoyed our stay. I thought having a separate bathroom area would be an inconvenience but I actually enjoyed the privacy. The view from the cabin was beautiful and the location to other areas visited was great. No complaints about this listing.
The small cabin was cute and comfortable and had everything we needed except a TV but we were able to watch the news on our computer and phones. We stayed in Cabin #2 and it was 145 steps uphill from our private bathroom. Very inconvenient for someone who has to go a couple times a night. The road up is not well lite. Their was a lantern in the cabin but it didn't work. Thank goodness we had a flashlight with us. The portapotty that was provided looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. I only used it once because it was so bad. The pavilion wasn't kept up with. It needed a good sweeping (which I did) and a trash bag in the trash can.
We loved the cabin. It was very comfortable. We wished we stayed more than one night! Our kid loved the playground, too.
We used the cabin as our base camp for all the sites we wanted to see and visit in the Black Hills. The cabin was perfect and the wash house was great. We took advantage of the locations for all the national and state parks and star gazing at night out on our cabin front porch. It is amazing canvas of stars has far has you can see. We recommend the town of Keystone just 10 minutes away that is nestled in the hills. Try Powder House for breakfast . You’ll leave with a full belly and a smile. We highly recommend the cabins in the hills and already have it down for next summer. WE CANT WAIT!
Love this place. Plan to stay again.
A clean charming cabin with amenities of a typical hotel room. A nice porch to sit and enjoy the outdoors. The bathroom,/shower assigned for our use and a short walk away was full-size, spotless and modern. Marylyn was very friendly and hospitable. We enjoyed our stay.
The place was exactly how it was described. The host was very accommodating with us as we couldn’t walked up the hill to the shower house so she let us drive up to the bathroom using their private drive. There was a private shower room for each cabin which was very nice.
Great cabins with all the amenities to use. Having the shower house with your own private bathroom was really nice after a long day of hiking. Great place for families. Close to mt Rushmore and Custer state park
Lovely place to stay, the roads a bit curvier than anticipated but well worth the trip. Having an individual bathroom was definitely a bonus, and the area itself very pretty and secluded. Would stay there again!
Loved this cabin! it's very quiet and peaceful with deer right out the door! The hills and trees are great and you can rest. Can't say enough about Marilyn as a welcoming host and Gideon as the tech expert!! Really enjoyed staying here.
A peaceful cabin with exactly what we needed. And some cute animals around as well!!
Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by Marilyn, who knew who I was and greeted me and my son both by name (as did her son a minute later). She took us on a tour of the place, showed everything in the cabin, the grounds, and the restroom area. She answered questions and had recommendations for activities in the area. I'm glad we followed her suggestions. The experience in the Black Hills was truly unforgettable. We look forward to returning with the whole family again.
